It happened at the Walnut-Locust Station on SEPTA’s Broad Street Line around 8 p.m. on Nov. 27, transit authorities told Daily Voice.
The suspect walked into the station dual-wielding a pair of knives, officials said. The 48-year-old was caught on security camera "randomly slashing at and poking three people," according to police.
One of the victims was a guard for security contractor Extrity, SEPTA said. None of the victims are thought to have life-threatening injuries.
Responding police found the suspect outside near City Hall and used a stun gun on him, but "that did not stop the man," authorities said.
A SEPTA police officer eventually shot him three times and he was hospitalized in critical condition, officials said. His name was not released.
SEPTA police said the investigation is ongoing.
